What you need
Verdalio runs on a Raspberry Pi 5. Here’s the hardware to gather before you start — 8 GB of RAM is recommended so the Magdi AI assistant and extensions have headroom.
- Raspberry Pi 5
8 GB RAM recommended (4 GB minimum). 8 GB leaves headroom for the Magdi AI assistant and extensions.
Where to buy - microSD card (32 GB+)
A good-quality A2-rated card. The Verdalio OS image needs room to grow your data over a season.
Where to buy - USB-C power supply
The official 27 W Raspberry Pi 5 supply. Underpowered chargers cause boot problems.
Where to buy - Sonoff ZBDongle-P (Zigbee coordinator)
The Zigbee 3.0 USB stick that pairs your sensors and actuators. Plug it into the Pi before first boot.
Where to buy - Ethernet cable (recommended)recommended
A wired connection for first setup is the most reliable. WiFi works too — you configure it while flashing (Step 3).
